CAMPUS_Asia::SUAE_AsiaProgram is dual degree program between Architecture Department of Kyushu University, Tongji University and Pusan National University, aimed at enhancing the education of urban and architectural environment by developing knowledgeand skill to achieve sustainable cities and buildings in Asia. Program, as a Korea UNESCO ESD(Education for Sustainable Development) Official Project assigned by Korean National Commission of UNESCO, currently focusing on present urban and architectural problems and enlarging education opportunity to promote the practice of resilient design, accessibility and inclusive urban design and development which are adequately addressed in the UNESCO events, outcomes and publications.

The world demanding greater cooperation rather than protectionism, acknowledgement of heterogeneity rather than homogeneity. Morever balance between nature, architecture and human is adequately responsive to the direction of how the world is moving. Students will find the most effective way to install places as ‘Cinema Paradise’ by adding some architectural means at peaceful landscape of waterfalls and cave of San Nicola in Sicily

On behalf of CAMPUS_Asia::SUAE_Asia Program, 2021 Winter School pleasantly invite two universities from Europe, Vienna University of Technology from Austria and University of Palermo from Italy, as guest partner university and every proposals will be included in publication that will be publishing this year and your contribution will be acknowledged too.

Waterfalls and Cave of San Nicola is located in the territory of Bolognetta in Sicily, in a valley where the two promontories Torretta and Pizzo Cicero create a restriction of the Milicia river. In these enchanting places it will be possible to experience an atmosphere of tranquility and well-being and come into direct contact with the extraordinary nature that the area offers.

Assignment

Invention of CINEMA PARADISE as the nature-friendly cultural facilities with minimal impact to the nature. It will be used as the places for small conference, (out door?) cinema, and lodges for no more than 15 person at same time. Places for rest and healing should be considered and it is the natural elements include cave and waterfall too. No need to consider parking because peoples will come here by walking from some near parking place.

BACKGROUND OF TOPIC - CINEMA PARADISE

Film : CINEMA PARADISO

Cinema Paradiso (Italian: Nuovo Cinema Paradiso) is a 1988 Italia drama film  written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. The plot of  Cinema Paradiso is loosely based on the story of the Protti family, who have owned a movie theatre in  Mantua, Italy, since 1904. The film stars Jacques Perrin, Philippe Noiret, Leopoldo Trieste, Marco Leonardi, Agnese Nano and Salvatore Cascio, and was produced by Franco Cristaldi and Giovanna Romagnoli, while the music score was composed by Ennio Morricone along with his son, Andrea. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 62nd Academy Awards.

Location of film

Cinema Paradiso was shot in director Tornatore's hometown Bagheria, Sicily, as well as Cefalùon the Tyrrhenian Sea. The famous town square is Piazza Umberto I in the village of  Palazzo Adriano, about 30 miles to the south of Palermo.

Giuseppe Tornatore

Giuseppe Tornatore (born 27 May 1956) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He is considered as one of the directors who brought critical acclaim back to Italian cinema. In a career spanning over 30 years he is best known for directing and writing drama films such as Everybody's Fine, The Legend of 1900, Malèna, Baarìa and The Best Offer. Probably his most noted film is Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, for which Tornatore won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has also directed several advertising campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana. Tornatore is also known for his long-standing association with composer Ennio Morricone, who composed music for thirteen Tornatore feature films since 1988.

Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone (10 Nov. 1928 - 6 July 2020) was an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and trumpet player who wrote music in a wide range of styles. With more than 400 scores for cinema and television, as well as more than 100 classical works, Morricone is widely considered as one of the most prolific and greatest film composers of all time. His filmography includes more than 70 award-winning films, all Sergio Leone's films since A Fistful of Dollars, all Giuseppe Tornatore's films since Cinema Paradiso.
